Calm Restlessness

I am calm and relaxed.

I sit and look through a vast window.

Everything around is filled with silence and serenity.

A cup of coffee on the table, soft music, a comfortable chair.

I flip through a magazine — images and letters flicker by.

My thoughts are lined up in perfect order: everything planned, everything foreseen.

But suddenly this fragile calm is broken by a quiet unease —

perhaps by the airplane ready for takeoff…

or by the unknown,

hidden beyond the blue mountains

and the fiery sunrise.
