Chapter Four. What a Wonderful Day!

What a wonderful day today.
It began like a fairy tale, when light conquers the night. How beautiful it is to watch the sky change its colors while sitting in a cozy chair on a warm terrace. In her hands — a fragrant cup of coffee; on the saucer — a crispy toast. The light fills the world, bringing joy, chasing away the remnants of sleep, filling the narrow streets with the hum of daily life. This must be how a new life begins: important decisions have already been made, everything is ready for a decisive step. Everything will begin very soon — they were only waiting for this sunrise.
Now she’ll tidy herself up, check her mail, review the latest materials, and scroll through her social feeds. This feeling of freedom didn’t come easily: the year had been full of discoveries, travels, and new experiences. After long years of hardship and dependence on circumstances, at last a lively stream of her own means began to flow — and just recently, it started turning into a confident current. How pleasant it is to realize that another barrier has been overcome.
She put the cup on the table, stood up, let her soft robe slip off her shoulders, and stretched sweetly, rising on her toes and reaching her arms up. Her face was glowing with bliss and happiness. Just a little longer — and He will be near. Near always. Not once every six months, not through video calls or messages. Near. To be held at night and to wake up in His arms in the morning. To walk by the sea all day long and kiss every minute. To go to a café and have tea or coffee. And then to go to a lively party, dance and fool around without end. To introduce Him to her friends and laugh together about all sorts of little things.
To feel complete freedom — have a drink, get a little tipsy, grow tired, burst into the apartment tearing off clothes along the way, and merge in wild passion — again and again. Yes, it will be soon. For now, He’s still away on his trip.
How reliable He is! It’s so pleasant to walk beside Him — He’ll hold her back at a crosswalk, open a door, call the waiter and arrange a table in a crowded restaurant. He’ll take care of her, do everything to make her happy. He will be a wonderful father to their child.
Later…
But for now, she is waiting for Him.
